Bottesford guidebook

Bottesford in North Lincolnshire has family appeal…

The parish of Bottesford goes back to the days of the Norman Conquest and, until the 20th Century, was nothing more than a small farming village.

That’s all changed now, of course, and Bottesford has assumed not only the role of suburbia, but also sees itself as a town in its own right.

In fact, it now has just over 11,110 residents, even though it is almost seamlessly attached to Scunthorpe on one side and to Messingham on the other.

Just over half (54 per cent) of Bottesford's homes are semi-detached, making it a popular place with families, and there is a Junior School for 7-11 year olds.

There is a good selection of local shops including a supermarket, post office, greengrocer, butcher and pharmacy, and a handful of traditional pubs.

And Bottesford boasts an excellent sports hall in Ontario Road with facilities suitable for football indoor hockey, indoor cricket (nets practice), basketball and netball. There’s also a viewing gallery for spectators.
