It's a good description of this thriving market town which boasts what is said to be the finest one day agricultural show in Britain, is home to over 12,000 people, and is within easy reach of some of the East Riding’s most beautiful scenery.
Driffield offers the lifestyle of the town within the serenity of the country. There’s busy and varied shopping, entertainment, historic pubs and hotels, and memorable walks.
The town is well located, being easily and quickly accessible by road from Hull and Beverley and other large regional centres.
It is also only a short distance from the magnificent Yorkshire heritage coast with towns like Scarborough, Bridlington and Hornsea in easy reach, and York is less than an hour’s drive away.
Rail travellers are also well served, Driffield being on the Hull-Bridlington line which connects with main line services to the rest of the country at Hull, about half an hour's train journey away.
For those travelling further afield, air connections are good. Humberside International Airport is within 45 minutes of Driffield, while Robin Hood International is a 60 minute drive.
Driffield town is a traditional focal point for people from a large part of the Yorkshire Wolds and offers attractions which are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, among them the impressively modernised Riverhead Canal.
Constructed in the 19th Century, it retains old and restored warehouses which give a historic flavour to an area favoured by walkers, anglers and photographers.
Driffield Canal with its three streams offers superb walking within a stone’s throw of the bustling town centre.
At the heart of town is All Saints’ Church, its 500 year-old tower dominating the local skyline, a constant reminder of Driffield's long history.
Tradition is upheld with weekly markets on Thursdays and Saturdays as well as a regular farmers’ market which offers the best in local produce.

Prices in Driffield tend to be above average for the region and there is strong demand for property.
A large number of detached homes are available, as well as many smaller, traditional houses. Flats, however, are more difficult to find. Most properties in the town are owner-occupied.
Little Driffield
Situated on the western outskirts of Great Driffield, to the west of the A614 and south of the A166, the village is part of Driffield parish.
Quite a lot of homes development in recent years has brought new life to a community which goes back to Saxon times. Newer development includes six new houses built in 2006 on Horsefair Lane.
