A lot of money is being spent here - definitely on the up.

I moved to Coventry as a student and four years later I'm not leaving.

I moved to Coventry from Birmingham several years ago and can honestly say it's the best move I ever made....

For many years Coventry lived in the shadow of its bigger neighbour, but it is most definitely coming into the light. The re-development of the City Centre shopping arcades, new apartments, restaurants and bars have created a vibrancy that everyone feels.

This combined with some fantastic medieval history make this a great place to live and work - just a shame about the football team!

We lived in Coventry for 4 years...

This city packed a lot in for its compact size..the Sky Blues stadium for football, an amazing city centre that you could ride a bus into from anywhere in Coventry and walk its whole breadth and length and never be tired.

The stores were great for shopping and my husband and I loved the fish markets downtown. Being from the "midlands" of the United States we never had fresh fish! Cod and Salmon were the best..or as you say, "Brilliant!"

Coventry was never more than 2 or 2 and a half hours from any coast..if you were up for an ocean walk. Coventry was also central for intellectual ties with the great collegiate towns such as Oxford, or taking in the King's College Christmas concert in Cambridge.

Best of all, from where we lived, we could enjoy the urbanity of LoDo Coventry in minutes or in one mile we were walking footpaths through the English countryside in Berkswell. Our favourite park was Memorial Park: great for picnics or taking the dog for his 'walkies', or even a short round of golf.

From the city centre, you could take the train and be in Birmingham within 20 minutes. We also supported Coventry's great basketball team (Dip Donaldson's Crusaders) in the downtown leisure centre.

Its magnificent Coventry Cathedral and its history (including Godiva) make for fascinating explorations. We were there when the Time Team came to dig up the ancient remains of an old cathedral! (St. Mary's?) Amazing!

Best of all were the people of Coventry. They opened their homes and hearts to us. We lived in the Sikh and Muslim section north of town for a time and felt accepted. We were invited into their homes for Asian food and enjoyed getting to know these incredible people. You've not lived until you've had homemade samosas by my favourite Mum in Foleshill!

We also used to shop the Sainsbury store in Canley. We were amazed that the grocery clerks were allowed to sit! In the U.S. all checkout clerks are required to stand..dodgy! We made friends with people all over the city; from Allesley, Hawkesbury Junction to Cheylesmore, to Foleshill and Tile Hill, Coventry is the sum of its great parts.

We shall miss you all.

I have lived in Coventry ever since I was born and I think it's a great city to be in...

It has all the features of a major city without feeling overcrowded. There are loads of shops in the city centre, with everything from Debenhams to H&M, Waterstone's to TopShop.

We have the new Skydome, with an Odeon cinema, an ice rink (with a league/cup winning ice hockey team) and several nightclubs. There is a great nightlife here, with many students bars also.

The atmosphere during our summer festivals and street parades is amazing, we hold the Godiva Festival every summer and have several carnivals to celebrate different times of the year where people come together to make floats.

I love living here, as there is so much to do and see, our history is also very important to many citizens here. We have two cathedrals, each with its own story. We are also home to the infamous Lady Godiva.

There is so much culture here, and most people are friendly and will always be willing to help in shops and stores. Especially in Sainsburys stores in Canley, everytime I visit, I am treated well and welcomed with smiles.
