Word On The Street: May Bank
I have lived in Newcastle all my life, but moved to May Bank just 12 months ago from Porthill ...

... May Bank is a really pleasant place to live, with all local amenities close to hand, plus a cricket ground and large grass open spaces for the children to play football on. The area has excellent primary, junior and senior schools and is in close proximity to Newcastle College for further education.

Not forgetting of course the array of local public houses the area has to offer, with excellent food ranging from pub meals to carvery. All in all a very nice convenient place to live.

Word On The Street: Wolstanton
The area is relatively quiet with plenty of essential amenities: doctors, dentist, pharmacy and the Post Office ...

... There are also a number of shops on the High Street that serve for the everyday items such as butchers, hair and beauty salons, newsagents, florists and the co-op (the 24 hour Asda is a two-minute car journey) as well as a number of specialist shops, two wool shops, jewellery, lighting, card making and a physiotherapists - to name but a few.

There are plenty of pubs in the vicinity serving food and a wide variety of take-aways. The Marsh provides plenty of green space for children to play.

Location wise it has excellent links to the A500 and easy access to the M6. Its less than a ten minute car journey to the centre of Newcastle and under 15 minutes to Hanley.

Word On The Street: Westlands
We chose to move to this area 18 months ago from another area in Stoke on Trent ...

... The decision was based on research into schools and child friendly facilities and provisions coupled with a daily commute to Shrewsbury but not wanting to move to Shropshire.

Westlands is very well placed for travelling out in the direction of Market Drayton, and has the enviable position of benefiting from both a village community feel whilst also enjoying the shops, bars and restaurants Newcastle has to offer.

With a high percentage of families in the area, social provisions such as playgroups and out of school clubs are well maintained. Council tax is quite high but - relative to what we previously paid on a smaller property in a less desirable area - it’s not a huge increase.

The biggest problem with the area is high volumes of traffic short cutting through at speed, always a concern for families.

Word On The Street: Chesterton
Just between Chesterton and Bignall End, the back of our house overlooks the Apedale Valley ...

... and on a clear day you can see as far as the Welsh Hills. There are plenty of walks and lots of wildlife right on your doorstep, how great is that !!!

Word On The Street: Seabridge
Private housing estate, west of Newcastle under Lyme, predominately 3 or 4 bedroom family properties ...

... Close to the country and easy access to Newcastle under Lyme and the M6. A range of private shops i.e. supermarket, butchers, hairdressers and newsagents. Good schools: Seabridge, Langdale and Our Lady and St Werburghs. Newcastle Golf Club and Tennis facilities are available, also doctors and dentist are within easy reach.

A well kept and maintained area, popular with families

Word On The Street: Wolstanton
Wolstanton still has a village feel and retains a high street ...

... complete with butcher shop, 2 pubs, 2 doctor surgeries, a dentist, 2 florists, 2 food shops, several takeaways and more besides - so everything is on the doorstep.

It’s well placed for fast access to the motorway via the A500 and is just a 15/20 minute walk from Newcastle town centre via the leafy Wolstanton Marsh and the Bramptons.

There is a wide variety of properties in the area from terraces to semis and impressive detached homes and it’s still within the first time buyer bracket!

Word On The Street: Northwood
I live on the quiet side of Northwood, close to the canal with pretty walks, Northwood Park, fields and allotments ...

... You get a lot more house for your money. My next door neighbours are quiet as mice and even rang me at work when my fence blew down in the storms.

The surrounding area has recently been improved, with the old co-op being made into an excellent beauty salon and the empty petrol station became a modern convenience store with a much needed cashpoint.

The Northwood Inn is a quiet, clean, cosy and welcoming pub that does food and quiet entertainment, along with the Cross Guns and the Wheatsheaf being close second. There are plenty of taxi companies and it is very close to a good bus route.

Word On The Street: Cross Heath
Cross Heath is a very good place to live ...

... It’s close to Newcastle and a short journey to Hanley. There are plenty of shops and food establishments within the area and Morrison’s Supermarket - always handy when you’re desperate for something.

Lots of parks and playing fields for children, and from what I can gather from speaking to people within the area there are some friendly people.

Since living in Cross Heath I have never had any trouble with any vandals or youths and feel comfortable to walk around at night.

Word On The Street: Newcastle Under Lyme
We moved to the area primarily for the quality of schools as we have 2 children aged 2 and 3 ...

... We live in a quiet cul-de-sac, with friendly neighbours and access to the centre of Newcastle is only half a mile away. This is ideal for my partner and close to supermarkets, local shops and golf courses!
