About the area Nestled in the north of the Taff Valley, Merthyr Tydfil is a thriving town steeped deep in Ironwork history and character. The early 18th Century saw the establishment of the huge Iron-Works complexes, which made Merthyr the Iron Capital of the World. A relaxing character filled place to live. Directions From the North (Heads of the Valleys Road)- Take the A470 South. Come off the A470 at the Swansea Road/A4102 Exit. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit. At the next roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Pantycelynen. Pantycelynen becomes Aberdare Road. Then turn right onto Cae'r Wern. Stay straight to go onto Cae'r Wern/ Llwyncelyn. The site is on your right.
From the South (M4)- Take Junction 32, at the roundabout take the A470 signposted for Merthyr Tydfil. Follow this road for approximately 20 miles. Come off the A470 onto the A4102 signposted town centre. At the next roundabout take the second exit. At the next roundabout take the first exit onto Avenue De Clichy. At the main set of traffic lights go left after the Rugby club, then your first left onto Cae'r Wern. Stay straight to go onto Cae'r Wern/ Llwyncelyn. The site is on your right. Shopping Merthyr Tydfil town centre has a variety of shopping experiences, from the big high street shops to small independent retailers. The newly opened Cyfatha Retail Park includes B&Q, Next, JJB, Argos, Boots, Currys, Matalan, Brantanop Footwear, New Look, Outfit, and TK Maxx. Leisure The beautiful and dramatic countryside around Merthyr Tydfil is the perfect setting for a wide range of activities and attractions. Days out for the whole family can be spent in the local forests and hills such as the Taff Fechan Nature Reserve, Gethin Woodland Park, or The Brecon Beacons National Park. Transport Cae Penderyn is situated close to the Heads of the Valley Road (A465T), A470, and within easy access to the M4. With the improvement in infrastructure, and served by excellent road and rail networks, Cardiff and Swansea are but 30 minutes away, whilst Birmingham and London are no further than 2 and 3 hours travelling time respectively. Cardiff International airport is a mere 30 miles distance.
