Situation
Appledore is a picturesque village of cobbled streets, fishermen's cottages and captains' houses. Described by Charles Kingsley as a `Little white fishing village' it has a primary school, post office, library, late-opening Co-op, church, half-a-dozen pubs, butcher, fish-an-chip shop, several eating houses, guesthouses and art galleries. These lead onto and around the Quay, from which activities such as crabbing contests or fishing trips may be embarked upon, or you may just take a walk along the promenade with a locally made ice-cream.
By contrast, once you step inside the door of the apartments, the design is light, bright and contemporary with clean lines of glass tiles and stylish kitchens. Bespoke hardwood windows and solid oak doors are typical of the high specification. Fully tiled bathrooms typify the luxurious elements of these homes, but the real bonus of course, is that most of them have the wonderful estuary views.
Description
The Gaiety is a small development of six apartments imaginatively converted from a Cinema that started out its life as a Chapel. It is situated in Irsha Street, a long quaint and narrow street, typical of the streets of this historic fishing village of Appledore.
Moorings - at present anyone interested in having a mooring needs to apply to the harbour master for an Agreement. They would need to be fully conversant with the voluntary code of practice and never obstruct any slipways or passage through the estuary.
Moorings cannot be purchased but in due course it may be that they will be charged for.
