Marazion guidebook

Marazion stands on the shores of Mount’s Bay, a beautiful setting which poses as the backdrop to the island and castle of St Michael’s Mount…

Marazion is recognised as a great place to enjoy water sports and many people make use of the wide and sheltered bay to wind-surf, kite-surf and sail.  Its marsh land, a designated site of special scientific interest, is a popular spot for bird-watchers.

Access to the Mount is only available via foot at low tide and via boat when the tide is in.  A causeway, once used by pilgrims, runs from the mainland to the island and is uncovered twice a day.

The small community on the Mount has its own harbour, shops and restaurants.  Marazion centre has many pretty B & B’s and guesthouses, as well as attractive tea rooms, pasty shops and a growing number of art galleries.

Located close to the main commercial centre of the area, Penzance, and in close proximity to the beautiful beaches of Perranuthnoe and Praa Sands to its east, Marazion is in a perfect central location to enjoy the scenery and to explore West Cornwall.
