As the central hub of the Caradon region, Liskeard is ideal for commuters travelling to Plymouth, yet just a stone’s throw from the popular coastal resorts of Looe and Polperro.
The vast expanse of Bodmin Moor is to the north of Liskeard, and the new £42m Dobwalls bypass is set to be completed by 2009, reducing travelling time along the busy A38 towards Bodmin.
Liskeard boasts many original Victorian shop fronts and interiors in addition to a Guild Hall, a Clock Tower and a Town Hall, and Caradon District Council’s headquarters are based in the town, at Luxstowe House.
The nearby country estate of Stuart House is well worth a visit for its arts venue and attractive garden.
