The slate quarry is considered to be one of the biggest 'holes' in Europe, and Delabole slate has been used as a building material for more than 600 years.
Like many areas in North Cornwall the village can boast some interesting walks, including one around the quarry giving visitors an insight into its importance to Delabole and to the history of the area.
The village of Delabole has a primary school, small local shops, a garage, several churches and some pubs, and its annual carnival attracts many visitors to the area.
Delabole is believed to be the third highest village in Cornwall, and on a clear day it offers some stunning views of the sea and nearby Bodmin Moor.
The area boasts some traditional housing as well as modern developments, and is close to Tregardock, Trebarwith, Camelford, Tintagel and Boscastle.
