... I have now lived here nearly six years and I love Addlestone's charm and character. Addlestone is my home, and it's going to stay this way for a long time to come. A very nice community, everyone knows each other.

I have been here for 5 years now and I think it's a great place for families with children, it is a very safe area and there are lots of playgroups to take the kids to.

The shops are a bit limited, but they do have everything you need on a day-to-day basis, especially the big Tesco's in the middle of the town.

I love the area, it's peaceful, green and the high street has a good selection of shops. Also it's an easy journey to Waterloo. Neighbouring Weybrige is great for bars and restaurants.

It's a beautiful, quiet little town that seems to be conveniently close to everything.

After coming back to Canada for another year we've decided that Addlestone is where we want to raise our family. We love it.

Lovely countryside all around and so convenient for London and beyond, not to mention the airports. Moved here 17 years ago and it has really improved.

Property was at that time good value, and I have noticed a significant increase in house prices. Local butchers, bakers, 24 hour Tesco, London within the hour and a great community spirit make Addlestone a great place to live!

Gone are the days of the Coop and now 24 hour convenience of Tescos. Walks along the Wey Canal, new garden centre plus access to Weybridge restaurants, excellent train service and M25 access make living here a pleasure.

My husband needs to have an easy distance to an airport and the M25.

Addlestone is great value for money at the present time.

I don't spend much time in Addlstone town centre even though it has improved dramatically over the years.

Most of my time is spent in Weybridge where my children attend school.

Addlestone is on the up with its new Tesco superstore and offices bringing more people into the area.

New Co-op superstore, more fast food restaurants, other formal restaurants and new business park in progress for over 2,000 people. New businesses opening and in January 2003 Addlestone will have a half hour service to Waterloo for the first time. As from 26 January a new market is operating every Saturday.

...this can hardly be a surprise when areas such as St George's Hill (where Cliff Richard lives) and Oatlands are within Weybridge. If you earn a reasonable salary but don't want to live in a shoe box then the towns surrounding Weybridge are your only option. Addlestone has a lot of charm from the Victorian era - and many lovely quiet roads. Addlestone covers a wide area and has, I think, housing to suit everyone, both town and rural.

The high street is relatively quiet, but does have plenty of Indian or Chinese restaurants to choose from. Personally I would prefer this to the noise and rabble attracted to Weybridge high street by the late opening pubs and clubs - it is easy to get a cab home (or even walk) from there if you do want the night life.

Transport links are good - unless you work in London and have to use the rail link. Having said that, you can leave Addlestone at 8.10am and be at Waterloo by 8.45am. However, this is rarely the case as the service on this line is poorly run and trains regularly run late or are cancelled.

There is a new Tesco store opening later this year - it remains to be seen whether this will help or hinder the smaller local shops.

The one thing that could be improved is the shops - the council should offer incentives to get people to come and open shops - and not allow any more take-away or charity shops to open. They did have £1m that was being spent on the high street - but doesn't seem to be much evidence of this so far.

... in decent restaurants and cafes. The prices are reasonable which make up for it. I have a room to rent and am finding it a little difficult to find young professionals in the area. Are there any out there????

...and am really enjoying living here because:-

1. It's so close to the M25, making it easy to get to just about anywhere.
2. It isn't full of high-rise buildings and offices.
3. Although it doesn't perhaps have the charm of somewhere like Chertsey, I think it does have a good feel to it and a character all of its own.
4. It's full of little Victorian cottages (like the one I'm in now) but isn't as pricey as other areas because of the indirect train link into London (however, if you drive, it doesn't make much difference, as long as you don't work in London.)

The only thing lacking in Addlestone is a good variety of restaurants. Chinese and Indian is reasonably catered for, but otherwise you have to travel a bit further afield.

I'm very happy to be living in Addlestone and think it's an area that has potential and where property is very reasonably priced.
