Location
All you need within easy reach
Going out locally, in Addlestone or Chertsey puts a good selection of pubs, bistros, and wine bars at your fingertips, with riverside restaurants and hotels adding to the variety. Just down the road, Weybridge is also a good destination for socialising, with an abundance of upmarket cafes and restaurants.
Chertsey also offers a good range of shops, mostly of the smaller independent variety, and for the high street favourites you need go no further than Guildford or Woking. The immediate locale is currently benefiting from much revitalisation, including the refurbishment of Riverbourne Health Club and Addlestone Leisure Centre.
A pleasant short drive finds Weybridge and its further options for shopping and leisure with many upmarket boutiques. Just past Weybridge, you will find the Brooklands Centre with branches of Marks and Spencer and Tesco, and fitness facilities such as the David Lloyd Centre, give Weybridge an atmosphere of vitality and affluence.

Transport
Getting around
From nearby Chertsey station you can get to London Waterloo in just under an hour, changing at Weybridge or Feltham. The direct service takes a little longer: about an hour and fifteen minutes. Lifestyle
Town by the Thames
The small town of Addlestone has a semi-rural feel. Just to the west are the expansive acres of Runnymede and Surrey Heath, bringing commons, golf courses and woodlands on the edge of the town. On the opposite side is the Thames, which at this point in its course twists and turns through locks and channels, dotted with small islands. The riverside provides some wonderful spots for enjoyment, such as Chertsey Meads, a 170-acre meadow where there are wildlife habitats and picnic areas. Elegant Chertsey Bridge crosses the Thames and also within easy reach is St. Ann's Hill, a wooded park with magnificent views.
Neighbouring Chertsey, a thriving Surrey town with a host of modern amenities, has been established since medieval times, and a Benedictine abbey was founded there even earlier. Today, a number of fine old houses and a historic parish church still remain, giving Chertsey a unique and attractive character.
Messing about on the river can be part of your lifestyle at Abbots Croft too. All along the Thames there are excellent facilities for sailing and canoeing, with clubs to join if you wish. For the more serious, there are plentiful marinas to berth in. Angling is also popular, especially on the quieter backwaters. You can hire boats or just take a pleasure steamer; the river is particularly scenic between Chertsey Bridge and Shepperton. The surrounding land features dozens of lakes, streams and reservoirs, many with lovely waterside walks and meadows.
Golfers really are spoilt for choice in this area of Surrey. Facilities range from friendly public courses to the super-exclusive Wentworth club. One course, Abbey Moor, is just behind Abbots Croft on Addlestone Moor. Woburn Park, just along the road towards Weybridge, also has sports facilities in the form of tennis courts, an athletics track and cricket ground. The popular Silvermere golf course is just past Weybridge towards Byfleet.
