Staines is a great place to live…
Shopping and transport are excellent as is the nightlife. Not as posh as local Chertsey or Egham but still a good place to be.

Have lived in Egham/Staines area all my life and am amazed how the area is continually improving…
…Good use is now being made of the fact the river Thames runs right through the town which is more than can be said of other neighbouring towns that have "on Thames" at the end of their names.
In the summer around the river it's beginning to look glorious with classy bars and restaurants.
Good links to all major motorways and 40 mins into London .A lot of business are setting up in and around Staines, Egham and Chertsey which is pushing up prices. Will be connected by rail very soon into Terminal 5.
A bit of an undiscovered gem but being discovered now. In addition it's right on the edge of loads of greenbelt.

We moved to Staines in May 2006 - right next to the train station ...
... So far it has been a pleasant surprise - lovely relaxing in the bars and pubs along the waterfront and cycle rides along the river.
Property seems relatively cheap for the region and there is pretty much everything you need in the town centre - a good selection of shops and pubs/bars and a cinema.
And of course the train links mean it's easy to get into not only Waterloo, but pretty much anywhere into West London.
Recommended!

I have now been living in Staines for 3 years and I love it ...
... So much for the 'Staines massive'. Complete nonsense. Staines has good transport, schools and great social facilities i.e. Gyms, Pubs, and the river.
I have also been told we are about to get a new shopping centre to include John Lewis, and a monorail to connect T5 to here. Also a new 4 star hotel to replace the old town centre area. Great stuff! About time, as that's the only bad area of town.

A great place to live...
Moved here this year and we love it. There's easy access to London, wonderful Thames walks and a good selection of shops too!

Following advice from a colleague, my girlfriend and I rented an apartment near the town centre in mid-2005...
It's been a great move. Road and Rail transport links are truly excellent. The town has a decent collection of shops, pubs, and restaurants and a good cinema.
The Thames is right there, and offers some great walks, plus Windsor, Richmond, Kingston and Hampton are all close by.
Just avoid the chavs on a Friday and Saturday night in town and you'll be alright!

I've lived in Staines for five years now and it's better than ever...
...new stylish bars, facelifts to existing leisure facilities and the restyling of the river front are all contributing to giving the place a sense of pride it hasn't had for years.

Staines has been the best kept secret ...
- but now people are beginning to recognise it, and it's great potential as a place to live. I have lived here for 38 years - it has a good local shopping centre, excellent transport links plus the river Thames running through it and plenty of leisure facilities and green areas around. On top of all that, there is plenty of work with practically nil unemployment.

I think Staines is a marvellous place to live...
I've lived here for five years and in that time I've seen the area develop exponentially. The salubrious environment of the River Thames and the park contrasts wonderfully with the cultural experiences offered by the street theatre. In addition, the two sizeable shopping malls are the best between Windsor and Kingston. Highly recommended to everybody.

The improvements to the town centre are really making a difference to the feel of the area...
...the Christmas lights are always truly elegant.
When the new riverside development is completed and with prices as they are, it can't be long before Staines becomes the new Richmond.

I have lived in Staines for 3 years now, close to the river...
...but not far from shopping facilities and find it to be an extremely pleasant. The addition of the Two Rivers Shopping Park with the 10-screen Warner Village cinema has been fantastic. It has excellent transportation links to Reading and Heathrow and London is a short train or car journery. Despite its reputation, Staines retains some old charm but rides the crest of modernism well.

Staines is reemerging as a great (& undervalued) place to live...
...the new town centre is belated but high quality attracting at least a few decent coffee shops/bookshops.
The rail lines are good with the Reading/Windsor lines converging albeit with the shockingly unreliable, crowded Southwest Trains as operators.
For houses head to Laleham Road - especially those patches near the river such as Penton Road. In summary Staines is good, better than its name & getting better.

The recent addition of a large new shopping centre in Staines has made the town...
...an overall much more attractive prospect. We now have a Waitrose, large Boots, a Warner Village cinema and numerous other new stores. Buying a home close to this town centre is a must.
But be warned, local councillors have made a mess of traffic flows and Staines is subject to regular and frequent traffic jams, especially around the bridge. So be careful if you buy a property the other side from the station and need to get to the station.

Staines on the edge of green-belt has great access to the countryside...
...yet, owing to one of the south-east's fastest train lines is only 30 minutes from central London.

Born and raised in Staines...
Kenilworth Gardens to be exact. Married in Ashford
and emigrated to Ontario in 1965. Have lived here in Canada ever
since, but visit "over 'ome" periodically. Lovely little place, but the
changes, i.e. progress, are ongoing. Not quite the place I left but
love it just the same. Still have family living in and around the area.

Staines is a medium size town set in an excellent position for all transport links...
There are loads of improvements being made to the town centre - car parks being turned into parks, new cinema complex & shopping facilities, new restaurants - it is really up and coming!!!
The house prices have been going up a lot recently - and lot's of people believe that it will be the new Kingston!!!
The best areas for houses are off the Laleham Road or around the station.
