Word On The Street: Brentford
I moved from Brentford when I was 18 years old and that was almost 30 years ago ...

... Brentford was a great place to grow up in, and now I have lost my wife I miss it even more, I would move back tomorrow if I could. It really is and always will be the best place to be.

I have always lived in Brentford since my school days ...

...and have enjoyed the easy commute to Richmond, Chiswick, Kew for walks and work. I am a Brentford girl!

Brentford is a great place to live...

Close to Kew and Richmond. Great transport links and many local amenities. There has been a significant amount of investment in Brentford of late and this is set to continue. Watch this space...

Brentford is a fab place to live. I lived in Chiswick until I moved here 2 years ago and I wouldn't go back. It's the place to be.

I have just bought a house near Syon Park...

...great location & great house. I can't believe how quickly one can reach Chiswick, Richmond & Ealing! Brentford high street appears to be undergoing enormous changes.
I am very excited to be in Brentford to see its rebirth as a new riverside town...

Word on the Street: Brentford
If anyone saw 'Inside Out' on BBC 1 on 21/10/02 a property guru put Brentford as the number one property hotspot...

...in the whole of London and advised that if you see a property for sale to snap it up while you can still afford it. I brought my house six years ago for £90k and it has now been valued at £290k. There are lots of Victorian houses in Brentford, many with original features and cellars.

Just moved here, spent ages checking out the area, and can confirm it is a great place to live....

There is bound to be lots of change in the next few years, but go behind the high streets and find some real back street pubs that are gems. Being close to the water is good too, just waiting for the high street to have some more interesting shops. Brentford... love it, just don't change to much!

Brentford makes living in London easy....

Having bought a very reasonably priced 3 bed flat here six months ago, Iam constantly amazed at what Brenford has to offer. Transport is excellent and there are so many parks and walking areas. Nightlife is currently poor but with new penthouse flats going for £500K it wont be long until some smart cookie fills that gap.

Have lived in various shoe boxes in Chiswick for three years...

Just discovered Brentford (£80m regeneration underway) and bought a fantastic three bed terraced house with 60ft garden for £215,000. Rumour has it that you will soon be able to get a cappuccino on the high street. Get in while its still affordable for those of us not on six figure salaries.

Great area...

Needs regenerated but I think that applies to most of London. Proximity to Ealing, Kew, Richmond, Chiswick. Good transport. I have rented here for a year and just about to buy. Testimony in itself.

Brentford is ideal for getting out & about...

...5 minutes bus to Ealing Broadway/Strand on the Green/Kew. 10 minutes to Chiswick/Richmond. 20 minutes train to Waterloo. Night life is local pubs (strongly recommend The Nelson, a Fullers pub in the backstreets - Enfield Road - a REAL local). A few good restaurants, Yum Kims, Fat Boys, Rosetta's. Take away delivery services varied and good. Indian, Chinese, Thai, Pizza and even delivery fish & chips.

A good time to buy a property in Brentford as prices are already rising steadily with the impending re-development of the High Street area.

Word on the Street: Brentford
Brentford is an excellent area to live in, it's handy for all transport, trains, buses and underground...

It's near to Strand on the Green, a 15 minute walk to Kew and 15 minutes on the bus to Richmond - there is plenty of open green space and parks. The night life is non-exsistent except for the local pubs which are still locals, a lot is to be said for that, no theme pubs as yet thank God. Does one really want the nightlife and clubs on one's door step?

It has its own river frontage, where at the moment extensive development is taking place, and lets hope it's tasteful. The high street is rather sad, but I do believe they are going to develop it, let's hope with a bit more thought and taste than previously, because the last people to do anything for Brentford architecturally I think must have been the Romans.

All in all I would not like to live anywhere else, but I would like to see it fulfil its potential.

With the impending departure of Brentford football ground...

...and the £180 million redevelopment of the town centre / docks Brentford is very much an up and coming area. Plus it's a 2 minute drive to Kew and 5 to Richmond / Chiswick, 20 mins to Waterloo by train. Nightlife isn't up to much, but it won't be long before that changes.

Word on the Street: Brentford
A friendly place which is set to change...

...over the next few years due to developments and improvements along the docks.
Would recommend buying a property now before prices hit sky high.
It's an area with lots of potential and has excellent transport links.

Night life isn't that great but pubs are friendly and you benefit from living so close to Richmond, Kew, Ealing and Chiswick.

Word on the Street: Brentford Dock
An island of peace and calm amongst the ratruns of West London, the dock is a well managed estate of over 600 flats....

Built on an old Isambard Kingdom Brunel Dock which extends into the Thames, across the river from Kew, the area is virtually crime, litter and graffiti free, it has no through traffic, and a busy marina adds to the visual impact.

Try the Numa, Julius, or Marcus blocks for river views, on both sides,
unique I think in London. And fantastic value up against Kew Bridge House, which has less parking and more pollution. Commuting into London via BR, into Waterloo, painless.

Downsides? Aircraft noise, and make sue you get a flat with parking space!!

I left there, after 12 happy years earlier this year. I loved it.

Word on the Street: Brentford
Brentford is situated on the opposite side of the river from Kew....

It has an overground station and is 5 minutes by bus to Piccadilly line stations. It is an up and coming area with development happening all the way along the river with approved plans to rebuild and regenerate the high street.

There are also plans to build hotels, shops, restaurants and houses around the canal area. Plans can be seen at the Brentford regeneration centre on the high street.

Areas of particular interest are The Butts, a Georgian square where some houses fetch over £1,000,000, Hamilton Rd, Orchard Rd, Sommerset Rd and the Brentford Dock development which looks over the river.
