The Rise of Tunbridge Wells
The discovery of the Chalybeate Spring in 1606 saw Tunbridge Wells become one of the most fashionable places outside of the West End of London. Royalty and the aristocracy came here to taste the waters for their healing powers and the towns Royal prefix was granted in 1909 by King Edward VII.
