Word On The Street: Margate
We moved to Margate for a fresh new start its the best thing we ever did…

...Even though we lived in Berkshire our children love the place:  beautiful beaches, fishing in the summer, excellent times on Palm Bay with the big kite festival and the Red Arrows in July.

All you need for good family life, nice fish and chips, fresh seafood and good air.

Word On The Street: Margate
I moved to Margate from London this year and it's the best thing I could have done…

…I love being by the sea and I also like being in a place where there is so much positive change going on. The once run down old town centre is being restored to its former glory, The Turner Contemporary is back on track with a stunning design by David Chipperfield.

Moved to Thanet (Margate) about 6 years ago from London and would never leave now ...

... The beaches: soft sand, great light, easy cycling, one for every month of the year! The schools: is there anywhere else in the southeast where you can find a primary school with A1 results with spaces - Minster etc? Or selective secondary schools with good results, a choice of fairly priced private schooling? The house prices: less than 200,000 for a Georgian 4 bedroomed house with garden, parking, nice area! Love it, love it, love it. I'm just wondering if I should tell you this - don't all crowd here at once.

I moved to Thanet, Margate in 2000...

Unfortunately in 2002 I moved back to London where I haven't settled, so I may well soon be on my way back to Thanet.

I miss the sea; swimming from April to October - it is so much better than going to some indoor pool. See you out there sometime at Joss, Botany, and those other nice sandy bays.

Word on the Street: Margate
I moved to Margate/Cliftonville some 18 months ago after a dozen years in London...

...and have not regretted the move for a moment. No, this is not a bustling metropolis, though for many, that is one of the main attractions. Thanet (the area encompassing Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, and various smaller towns and villages) is a far more lovely and peaceful place to live than most would suspect. It is not a decaying former seaside resort. Rather, it is a quietly enjoyable place to live.

All necessary facilities are available, and the present links to Dover, Canterbury and London mean access to whatever one might feel is lacking. What struck me most was the silence - almost no car alarms, no house alarms, no incessant blaring of horns.
