Big & busy town centre which is being gradually redeveloped...
Recent developments include new shopping parade and flats next to the river. There are lots of nice villages & countryside surrounding the town as well as good tourist attractions such as Leeds Castle and many nice village pubs.
Decent shops include big House of Fraser, or about four Pound Shops at the other end of the scale. Parking can be tricky, but Bluewater is only 30 mins away with free car park. There are many bars, including at least two Weatherspoons.
Lots of modern industrial estates and central London is 60-90 min drive or train journey so employment is fairly good. Close to M20 & M2, though M20 gets jammed up past junctions 4-6 in rush hours as does the town centre.

Maidstone is not a bad place to live but is being spoilt by overcrowding ...
... This is caused by a mass proliferation of housing developments and office blocks, the latter most of which seem to remain empty for long periods of time.
Shopping is not that brilliant and some parts of the Town e.g., Upper Stone Street look quite delapidated and tired. The bus service also leaves a lot to be desired at times.
Driving into the Town Centre can be a nightmare at peak times where all major roads seem to be more often than not gridlocked.

Maidstone is an increasingly viable location for international investors...
We have recently sold a development plot to a well off Cypriot Greek family who are relocating their UK operations to Kent.

Peaceful during the day time, very busy in town usually, great night life...
As with all towns and cities, there is always a rough end of town, and Maidstone isn't an exception, but it's a fantastic place to live and there are millions of job opportunities in the surrounding areas.

Maidstone is a lovely place...
Full of things to do and places to see. Transport links to London are great, you can leave your car.
The night life is good and the walks are good - there are lovely riverside walks. Lovely parks, things for the kids and the bingo for the older ladies. Plenty of places to eat and shop till you drop.

We moved down from Yorkshire to be closer to our new jobs in London area...
Maidstone was a perfect choice as it's served by good links to four BR stations, and the coast/Eurotunnel in the other direction as well as having easy access to the motorways into London and the airports.
Maidstone has a good amount of bars and nightclubs on offer ranging from cheesy discos to cocktail bars without paying London prices. And that's the point really: You're close enough to London without having to pay London prices for housing and living costs, with the benefit of being able to drive five minutes up the road and be in the middle of the Kent countryside.

Maidstone has a brilliant town centre for shopping...
...and an even better night life! It has a college, leisure centre, etc. I live in the next village to Maidstone. It has many beautiful villages close by and a lot of countryside too! Most areas are good too with a low crime rate.
