... More shops than a town of this size warrants due to the presence of John Lewis. Easy access to London (30 mins to Kings Cross) although trains are very very crowded in rush hour. Could definitely use more restaurants, but other than that, I have very few complaints.

I visit Welwyn Garden City because my friend lives there and it's really idyllic and lovely. Very quiet and welcoming.
Love it!

Good train service, and the shopping centre and John Lewis are fine for most things. Central area is green and pleasant with fountains and rose gardens . I'd recommend it! .

Beautiful commuter town. Great for families. Good schools especially Templewood. Down side is the snobbery between West Side and East Side. Hopefully this shouldn't matter anymore.

Plenty of churches to choose from, though! Not much in the way of evening entertainment. Cinema complex in neighbouring Hatfield. Gosling sports centre has a lot going for it, but no swimming pool (again, you have to go to Hatfield). Town centre restaurants are sparse unless you adore pizza. Two mediocre Indians and a Chinese make it just about bearable. MacDonald's of course, and some other takeaway places...hope you like pizza. French bistro? Forget it!

Generally a pleasant town with little trouble. A great place to bring up young children, with good schools and pretty tree-lined roads. Kids can let off steam at Roller City at Campus West and Stanborough Park.

The council are keen to re-develop the town centre, so this might bring more cafes and restaurants. Shoppers flock to John Lewis from the surrounding area, but otherwise it is not renowned for its retail superiority.

When trains are running it's quick and easy to get to central London.
For local culture seek out amateur productions at the Barn Theatre or Campus West.
