Word On The Street: Fleet

I have lived in Fleet for the past 25 years…
…It has changed in many ways. Twenty years ago it was the retirement centre for officers leaving the forces. Now it is a vibrant town, but could do with more shops to cater for everyone that lives hear.

My little oasis is Church Crookham. I love getting home and being able to take a short walk to be surrounded by countryside ...
... It has a lovely choice of pubs and all amenities are just near enough not to intrude on your doorstep. I'm really very glad I moved here!

Fleet is a lovely place to live...
I've been here for most of my life (28 years) and have seen it grow over that time. There are super travel links to London and to the coast. The local shops are always popular and despite the growth it maintains that cosy small-town feel about it. The town has a fair amount of history, all dating back to a monastery on a site called Flete. The local pond is a gem and on a summer's day always makes for a pleasant walk.
If you move here, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I have lived in Fleet for 5 years...
It is by far the best area for 25 miles to live in. It is brilliant for road and rail routes and there are a large number of big companies in the area offering great employment opportunities. It is no more than 20 minutes from Reading, Farnham, Farnborough, Basingstoke and only about 50 minutes from Waterloo. It's pretty, peaceful, low crime, well policed, with a thriving town centre and a good complement of reastaurants and pubs.

I grew up in Fleet, but moved to Canada 20 years ago when I was 18...
Fleet is a beautiful place to live, but upon visiting this website and seeing the prices of the houses, I would have to win the lottery to return to my old home town!

Well, I've never heard such a load of rubbish...
as what the person above wrote. What shabby end? If he/she thinks that anywhere in Fleet is "shabby" then they must be a total snob. Fleet is a lovely town and there are no shabby areas.

I live here in Fleet and would just like to help portray how nice it is...
It has the qualities of a busy town but yet the advantages of a quiet neighbourly area. It has many attractive aspects such as the local sports centre and the high street itself, and has at least 7 highly rated schools in the area.
Although Fleet may lack a few teenage wants and desires, they are all just a bus ride or train ride away.
Fleet's only downfall, I would say, is the shabby end; although Fleet is highly respectable in most parts there are a few council areas - but they are not really so bad. The other fact is it being situated next to Aldershot, thus allowing some of nearby Fleet as army land and training areas.
