A decent place to live...
...Nice contrasts with the town life having easy connections to countryside. Lots to do, but you have to go out there and get it. Loads of facilities too.
The beach and London are within an hour's drive. Cycle rides on cross country routes are accessible. Lots of park space, and reasonable variety of events in the summer.

I moved here two years ago from London, I love it, I do live in a very nice area as I am surrounded by farm land...
...but only 2 minutes from the train station. The town centre, soon to be finished, will be spectacular, and what with all the other facilities, new pool, new wine bars, new luxury flats being built, this is going to be a desirable place to live! I am glad I am already on the property ladder!

Basingstoke is above all convenient...
It is not exciting, nor is it dull. There is something here for most people from some great facilites for the sporting including two great swimming pools and olympic-sized ice rink, bowling alleys and bowling clubs, tennis clubs, many, many golf clubs, restaurants, bars and much much more.
Housing is reasonable with prices ranging from under £100,000 for a three bedroom family home on the estates to 1 bedroom flats in the town centre going for up to £200,000.
The only thing that Basingstoke lacks is soul.

I loved Basingstoke!...
I had lived there since I was eight years old and then we moved to America. I miss Basingstoke very much because it was such an open area where you could enjoy a happy childhood.
My childhood was very nice in Basingstoke, but I think overall England is a fantastic place to live. When I get older, I plan to move back to England. I can get a sense of how the area has changed since the last time I have been there.

We are a family of two professional working people and 5 children...
...who have all been brought up in Basingstoke. We are originally from Kingston. We love Basingstoke. It is a convenient, gentle and clean place in which to live. We are always on the doorstep of beautiful countryside, good schools and good shops.
Basingstoke is the best place to live in the South, but hurry, as prices are rising fast. We bought our current 4 bed house in leafy Kempshott three years ago for £142,000; it is now worth £230,000.

I moved to Basingstoke five years ago...
...and it has never ceased to amaze me just how many jobs are available in this town, with many large companies such as Barclays and IBM offering many employment opportunities.

I have lived in Basingstoke on and off for nearly all of my life...
My family moved here 22 years ago when I was a week old. Basingstoke is a town with a village atmosphere and very well situated for access to both the coast and London.
It is situated on a commuter belt and has an increasing number of telecom and IT companies. The only thing that lets Basingstoke down is the poor night life and the lack of properties for first time buyers in the area.

Basingstoke was part of the early 70's London overspill....
People unable to find somewhere to live in London were forced out to council houses further afield.
However, some very nice properties can be found at very competive prices compared to surrounding areas.

Basingstoke is a nice area....
I've lived there for 21 years, good night life and shopping facilities. Suitable for families or young couples. Not too far away from other big towns and cities.
