It currently seems to be undergoing a takeover from loud, aggressive youths who yell and holler on street corners at all hours of the day (and night). It also has a very high proportion of young new drivers who race around the town with loud exhausts.

Generally people are friendly and it is lovely to be in a town where you are recognised and chatted to. Just watch out for yobbish behaviour!

Facilities have improved but travel is essential if you need hospital care or better retail choices.
