Crime figures for 2004/5
What the figures mean:
Crime data is collected by regional Police Forces and collated by local authority. In this example - Aberdeenshire, Grampian – Aberdeenshire is the local authority and Grampian is the police force.
Reading the table:
In the tables above we give the name of the local authority and the name of the Police Force.
Population refers to the number of people in the local authority area.
The first column of figures in the table is the general total for the local authority area; the second is per thousand of the population in that area. The third column is the national average per thousand of the population.
Statistical sources:
Population figures quoted are from the General Register for Scotland, mid June 2004 estimates, and the numbers of crimes are those recorded by the police for 2004/05.
