Uckfield occupies a truly enviable position in the heart of the Sussex Weald. To the north stretches the great expanse of wild heathland known as Ashdown Forest with its unsurpassed views across beautiful, unspoilt countryside. In the opposite direction, the gentle curves of the South Downs form a horizon, from beyond which beckon the ever-popular towns of Brighton and Eastbourne. Seven hundred years ago - Oakfelde - comprised no more than a few scattered dwellings, merely forming a part of the parish of Buxted. By the middle of the nineteenth century Uckfield’s population stood at 1,397 yet within fifty years at the close of Queen Victoria’s reign it had more than doubled to 2,895 and today stands in the region of 13,000.

Uckfield and surrounding villages offer a tremendous variety of architectural periods and amongst the earliest examples are the historic Bridge Cottage, a fine example of a Wealden Hall, built some time after 1380. More recently modern housing developments have not only enhanced the housing stock but also added to the cross section of properties for sale.

Rowland Gorringe, Uckfield Office caters for all types of property, whilst specialising in village and country properties in areas including Isfield, Framfield, Maresfield, Buxted, Hadlow Down, Blackboys, East Hoathly, Newick, High Hurstwood and Nutley.
