Curchods, New Malden
When the Curchods journey first began, we were determined never to be the subject of the horror stories so often told about estate agents. Our aim was to ensure we stood out in a world of service mediocrity, by providing outstanding customer care, quality professional advice and a determination to realise our clients' objectives. We understand the unique pressures of buying and selling property and are committed to making the transaction as smooth, fast and stress free as possible.
The responsibility of handling the sale or purchase of what is likely to be your most expensive asset and probably your best tax free investment opportunity, must be consigned to someone with integrity, who you can trust. As members of the National Association of Estate Agents and the Ombudsman for Estate Agents, we are bound by vigorously enforced Codes of Practice and professional Rules of Conduct. Our greatest asset is our reputation and we will never do anything to compromise our high ethical principles.
New Malden is a highly desirable suburb in the south west of London nestling between the better-known towns of Kingston upon Thames and Wimbledon. Evidence of Roman and early Saxon settlements have been found in the area, indeed the town takes its name from the Saxon word ‘Maeldone’ meaning ‘the cross on the hill’.
Until the late Victorian period, Malden and Coombe as it was then known was largely a farming community with several large country estates owned by many notable people such as Lord Liverpool (whilst Prime Minister), The Duke of Cambridge (one of Queen Victoria’s sons) and John Galsworthy, author of the Forsyth Saga.
Since the arrival of the railway in the 19th century and the creation of the London suburbs after the Great War, New Malden became very much what it is today, largely made up of Edwardian and some classic examples of 1930’s architecture. There are all types of properties in the area to suit most purchasers, from first time buyers looking for flats and small houses to business executives seeking fabulous residences on one of South-East England’s most prestigious addresses at Coombe Hill and Kingston Hill.
Commercially, the High Street still retains it’s traditional ethos in serving the local community and is complemented by widely renowned names such as Waitrose, Safeway, Tesco, Woolworth’s and Boots, to name but a few. There are also several out of town stores. The bustling town centre of Kingston upon Thames is only 2 miles away where one can also enjoy the riverside setting.
Families are drawn to live in the area as both the state and the private schools in the area have excellent educational facilities and their high academic achievement. Sport is a popular pastime with many opportunities available at local sports clubs, tennis courts and Golf Courses.
With Central London being just over 10 miles distant, the rail service from New Malden’s three stations is a real bonus to the commuter and the tourist. For those seeking the open road, the A3 trunk road cuts a swathe through New Malden and therefore also makes the Surrey countryside, the M25 and London’s airports highly accessible.
