... with Asda, M&S, Tesco, Argos, Focus DIY etc. and a short drive to the motorway junction for easy access to the M60 south to Manchester or north to the Lakes.

Blackrod has excellent primary schools and is in the catchment area for Rivington and Blackrod High School. If you like motorcycling, dog walking, hiking, fishing you are 2 mins drive from Rivington Country Park with great biking roads and bike meets on Sundays at the famous Rivington Barn.

Blackrod is close to Bolton or Chorley for good shopping, has an ambulance station, several churches, a very good health centre, Spar shop, hairdressers, butcher, post office, garage, newsagent, bookies, Greenhalgh’s bakery, chippie, 3 pubs and a Chinese takeaway (run by  my friends the lovely Lo family!)

Houses are spread out along the main Manchester road, lots of terraces, go down into Greenbarn Way (a well-kept 70’s development) there are several areas of council housing which are very neat and tidy, not rough.

Not many large houses available, i.e. a shortage of 4/5 bed detached, but a lovely convenient place for first time buyers, families, retired with everything Bolton has to offer on the doorstep. Have lived here 6 years and love it.

... friendly people, good shops, near to Manchester, convenient for motorways.

Rains a bit though.

It has everything you could need, and extra with Manchester, Liverpool and the peaks all close by. It's small enough to feel tightknit yet big enough not to feel claustrophobic. It's different to what people would expect, I think. I'm very happy here.

I have found the people very friendly, good neighbours and easy access to Manchester City Centre. Property is cheap though prices have risen more so in the past 2 years. Crime was an issue when I came here first as my car was broken into a couple of times. There now seems to be less crime and more prosperity in the area. Lots of new property developments and the locals are more involved about issues in Farnworth. Overall the whole region is on the up. I think that Manchester has lead the way is this regeneration.

You get the best of both worlds. I've got all the theatres, restaurants and nightlife of Manchester, the West Pennine Moors on my doors step and I can be in the Lake District or the Lancashire coast in less than an hour.

I've lived in several different areas of Britain. I wouldn't move from Bolton for a gold clock!

I've found the pace of life easier, the people friendlier, the traffic less frenetic, the shopping more accessible, the air cleaner and I'm staying!
