Word On The Street: South Ealing

Area has a village atmosphere and properties are less expensive then Chiswick and more mature than most in nearby Brentford.

...And superb public transport links.  Very cosmopolitan, with a young, lively crowd.

Negatives
A bit congested.  And you have to go to Chiswick or Richmond for decent shopping and restaurants (apart from Japanese and Middle Eastern - which superbly serves sizable local communities).

Word On The Street: Northfields

...It took some getting used to but I now love it, especially cycling through Lammas and Walpole Park.

Lots of great restaurants, particularly recommend L'amico just past Northfields station, as well as the plough pub which has had a major face lift.

The neighbourhood feels very safe, clean and well looked after.

the main business area and shops are a short walk away at Ealing Broadway which currently has a number of redevelopment plans in the pipeline- including a new leaf building designed by the same architects who did the Gurkin.

Shopping isn't bad in Ealing although it could do with more up markets stores- but Richmond is great for that.

Northfields is a very settled family-centred neighbourhood, everyone is very friendly and welcoming!

I just love it. I love Ealing, but I especially love the easy, friendly, community vibe in Northfields. It's convenient for everything, it's full of families, it has lovely parks and is very leafy. Also love strolling down Northfields on a Saturday morning - some good shops. Also love the Ealing Park Tavern on South Ealing road.

We rented a lovely "maisonette," in a small enclave called The Croft, on Park Hill.

Being young, newly married and far away from home, we were glad to have found Ealing which provided us a safe, comfortable place to call home. In 200. I returned for a visit and the first thing I did after checking into hotel was hop on the Central Line tube heading straight for Ealing.

I couldn't wait to get there, seeing Ealing after 32 years was the highest priority on my "must see list." It's not changed that much, some new shops, a little more crowded, but all-in-all the same.

This time, I did make sure to get to a small pub located near my former home, which I had not been to previously, can't imagine why. We walked quite a bit taking in the view that had been etched in my mind for all those years.

It was just about the same, with a little age added, of course. I so loved visiting and have tentative plans for another trip to London in the next couple of years. I have fond memories of Ealing and glad I had the opportunity to call Ealing my home. Regards.

More transport links than the mind can comfortably imagine - Central, Piccadilly and District lines all within easy reach. Buses swarm into the central Ealing hub. For smogheads there's the North Circular, A40, M4, and even the Uxbridge road can get you places if you travel at a sensible time. And there's even talk of a tramway between Uxbridge and Shepherds Bush.

I have lived in North London and South London and now West London. I must say it is the best place to live in London. It's close enough to central London to be able to go see whatever show you want yet still feels a bit like being in a big town. You can't beat it for amenities or social life - lots of pubs that cater to all tastes. I am looking to finally buy and settle down in Ealing.

...a village feel with friendly people and a cosmopolitan vibe. You dont feel like you live "in London", yet you have all the facilities five minutes away.
