I have moved to Poets Corner recently and love it!
…I lived in Acton for some time, but Poets Corner is absolutely the best place to live! It's so peaceful and safe, with the upmarket organic cafe, gastro pub, techno savvy dry cleaners - that text you when your cleaning is ready to collect - all on Churchfield Road.
Since the upgrade of the Overground mainline station transport is within 5 mins walk. The neighbours are friendly, and you still have access to Acton Mainline (7 mins to Paddington), Piccadilly, District and Central lines (10-15mins walk). Not to mention if you're caught in the city late a taxi fare isn't that expensive if you can't bear the nightbus.
And with the Virgin Active gym past the park, and the new multi million shopping complex soon to be built down the road its going to be awesome!

I am about to move to Newburgh Road in the Poets Corner/Churchfield Road area. I really think this is a great area to live ...
... Gastropubs and other specialist shops are a sure sign of progression. The area around Morrisons is really making an effort, with regular weekend farmers markets starting up now.
As far as I can see, there is one single shop letting down that whole square. It is the red and yellow signed "Cash and Carry" shop with all the letters missing and holes smashed in it.
Next time you are there, picture the square without that awful sign and hey presto, an area that looks as good as any of the best surrounding towns.

We've recently moved to East Acton, which is definitely an area on the up ...
... Perfect for first time buyers priced out of Chiswick and Shepherds Bush, but still within easy reach of them. Plus with White City only one tube stop away it's bound to benefit from the upcoming retail complex and regeneration of the area.

I moved to Poets Corner just 4 months ago, and love it more and more ...
... With the beautiful Acton Park, where we can enjoy sport and cycling, and the many nice restaurants and convenience shops on Churchfield Road you won't feel like you are living in a suburb at all. The neighbours are all very friendly and I feel like I'm living with family in the village.

I moved to Poets Corner in Acton 18 months ago and it is a fantastic place to live ...
... On top of the Gastro pubs on Churchfield Road, there are now two more opening on the High Street. The market square is being developed and new cafes and bars are opening all the time.
A true up-and-coming place to live in West London, within easy reach of Notting Hill, Chiswick etc.

A fantastic place to live ...
I moved to Acton Central, Poet's Corner over 2 years ago. A true gem! It's so peaceful but at the same time has an exciting buzz growing on Churchfield Road. Keep an eye on this one - lot's more to come.

We moved to West Acton in 1998. Our local primary school is fantastic and our girls are doing really well there...
West Acton has a village feel with good community spirit. I know many neighbours and there are good local shops and a Post Office.
The tube at West Acton is on the Central Line, which is a speedy way into the centre of London (20 minutes to Oxford Circus). There is also North Ealing Tube very nearby on the Piccadilly Line.
Overall, a really fantastic place to live!!

We moved to Poet's Corner from Shepherds Bush seven months ago ...
...because we couldn't afford a decent sized house in Shepherds Bush or Chiswick. We have met LOADS of young families who have also moved into the area for the same reasons in the last 12 months.
There are lots of facilities for children and a really sense of community where you know your neighbours and people greet each other on the street.
We thought Acton was grim but the council are doing a lot to improve the area. Come and check it out - it's great and you get a lot of space for your budget! T. Spencer

Moved to Acton nearly 3 years ago from South London. What a difference!...
Neighbours are so friendly, there's so much to do for the kids and you can be out of London in 15 minutes in many directions and into the centre in 20!

Birch Grove, W3, should be high on anybody's property list...
It's a beautiful street with a bus stop at the bottom and isn't far from Ealing Common Station. Nearby there are an array of shops and delightful restaurants.

Moved to Acton three years ago...
...and despite the rather unappealing High Street the area is changing in a positive way. Churchfield Road has seen new bars, restaurants and trendy shops in the last year and the area to the north has many pleasant tree-lined streets and Victorian architecture. Many new residential complexes are being built which will hopefully attract a better selection of retail outlets.
Transport links to central London and surrounding suburbs are pretty good and the proposed Tram service along the Uxbridge Road will further improve things for residents. From what I have seen I feel Acton will be a great suburb to live in the next few years.

Moved to Acton from East Sheen 6 years ago...
Recently, two long-awaited "gastro-pubs" opened their doors on East Churchfield. The High Street is a disaster area though. Some good shops interspersed among the fast food emporiums, 99-pence shops, and the horrid pinball/games place. Two good health clubs (The Park Club and Virgin), fab middle Eastern food shops and a cracking 20th Century designs "antique" shop on Churchfield.
Council doesn't seem to recognise that the area around Churchfield is up and coming and Acton is still treated like Ealing's poor relation. However, despite its problems it has great transport links if you feel the need to escape to Chiswick or Richmond for shopping, though Somerfield on the Vale is great and really trying, while Safeway needs a good kick up the backside.

I found a small oasis in Acton called the Gunnersbury Park Garden Estate...
...built in 1926 by a philanthropist - this small garden estate is planted with trees and bushes, with grass verges and a resident's social and tennis club in the middle.
Downside? Currently it can be used as a rat-run from the North Circular to Gunnersbury Avenue but this is to be stopped this year with an introduction of a one way system and residents parking zone. A great area with more space for your money.

I have lived in Acton the last 10 years, just off of Churchfield Road...
It has changed over the years. Churchfield Road is becoming very diverse in culture with its many restaurants, Indian, Lebanese, Greek, Chinese, Thai, Portuguese and even a nice Irish restuarant on the corner of Newburgh Road - and now recently some trendy shops opening. It can only get better. I recomend the area to any thinking of moving here. Mr G Lawrence

I've lived in Acton most of my life and I have seen lots of changes recently in the area...
I think it's a great place to live and particularly around Poets' Corner which is really peaceful and has a good range of Victorian as well as Edwardian properties. I think this area is better than the Acton/Chiswick borders although this area has seen a rather sharp upturn in house prices. Poets' Corner has trendy new shops opening on Churchfield Road, for example "Eye for Design" which is a retro furniture shop and other shops of a similar vein.
There is a wide range of restaurants in Acton and the choice is really superb and great value for money. I think Acton is really brilliant and I can't understand why people might be put off by Acton because there are so many beautiful places to live here!

Moved to Acton in 2000...
Large numbers of Aussies and Kiwis make going out a fun and friendly experience. Poets Corner has its own improving mini-high street. Chiswick, Ealing and Shepherds Bush all very close. Multiplex cinema with free parking close by.

I've lived in Acton for the last 3 years and it's a pretty good area for young people...
It's thought of as the poor relation to surrounding areas, but it seems the prices here have started to accelerate sharply - a terraced house round the corner from me was on the market for £310,000!! The large council estate is being rejuvenated and one of the tower blocks was recently demolished.
Acton's a melting-pot of an area with a very ethnically-mixed population. The bars and pubs are heavily weighted toward a thriving community of young Australian travellers. There are two membership gyms and a public swimming pool. From Acton Central it takes about 15 minutes to Richmond, Chiswick is 5 minutes away by bus, Acton Town tube reaches central London in about 35 minutes.

Moved to 'Poets Corner' W3 6 years ago...
Good value Victorian property. This particular area has improved with a few new interesting shops/restaurants over the last few years. Lots of bars with thriving Aussie/Kiwi community. Not the most fashion-conscious area (property-wise) but a stone's throw from Chiswick, Richmond & Ealing.
