Ealing
Developed in the nineteenth century as a bastion of bourgeois respectability, Ealing's good schools, green spaces and well maintained Victorian houses ensure that it has remained solidly suburban and middle class.
Victorian terraces predominate, with larger and more expensive detached houses to the north in the sought after Castelbar/Montpelier areas. North of here the Brentham estate has coveted and highly priced Victorian cottages, while the Art Deco Greystoke estate offers good sized three and four bedroom family homes.
Ealing has good shopping, especially around the Broadway, and a good choice of pubs, restaurants, and leisure facilities.
West Ealing
Cheaper and less salubrious than the rest of Ealing, West Ealing is a mixed area with a fair share of uninspiring Victorian and 1930's terraces. West of here is Hanwell, expensive for the large houses around Golden Manor, but mostly comprised of Victorian and 1930's terraces which have proved attractive to families who find prices in Ealing beyond their reach.
