Word On The Street: Highbury
Close to all local amenities with the Angel just a 10 minute bus ride away ...

Nice period properties, with very peaceful nooks here and there.

A real gem - the football seems to keep the area from costing the same as Angel...

... which it deservedly should do. It really is superb, so quiet all the time and a 10 minute walk to Stoke Newington, Upper street, Holloway Road. Arsenal tube is great, as are buses, and the football crowd are honestly no problem at all...the area will shoot up in value when the current stadium is closed, so get in while you can. My favourite part of London - it has taken 10 years and 4 other areas to get here!

I first came to Highbury over 30 years ago...

...and now wouldn't live anywhere else! My tree-lined street is so quiet that even the relative close proximity of Arsenal football stadium on match days has no impact. I can honestly say that I would recommend the area to anyone. There's a wealth of restaurants within easy walking distance with a number of markets and shopping centres close by, as is fast transport to the City/West End.

Highbury is very much a family area...

...offering excellent value property in an area which is still very much underrated. With the relocation of Highbury football stadium to Ashburton Grove, and its replacment with luxury flats, gyms, offices, etc., expect the area to continue the gentrification that has been happening over the past few years and a significant jump in property values.

Highbury has fantastic transport links. Its 10 minutes by train to Moorgate and 15 minutes by tube to the West End.

The area is very peaceful and even on match days the fans leave as soon as the match is over. Policing is top notch.

Facilities are excellent, with sports centres, numerous parks, supermarkets and some of the best primary schools in London.

Buy before it becomes unaffordable!

It's lovely - I rented in Crouch End and was worried about having to move...

...but two years on it's an unqualified success, Stokey, Green Lanes and Upper Street have enough restaurants and bars to keep me busy and it's 20 minutes on my push-bike to work in Holborn.

I live on Halton Road, the south bit of Highbury...

...and though you don't get much space for your money, the area more than makes up for living in a shoebox. There's loads of places to go out, many of the streets are tree lined with lovely big old houses. The pubs are brilliant and the atmosphere is safe and cosy.

N5 is the best area I have ever lived in London...

Havimg sampled areas such as E13, N16, E8, I think N5 is the best for both entertainment (Upper Street very close by), fitness (Highbury Pool), shops, Arsenal FC, university and Holloway market to get continental food. What more could you ask for!?

Many people discount this area due to the location of Arsenal Football Club but they should not be so hasty....

The area has a strong community spirit, be you an Arsenal fan or not, and the football fans seem to respect the area.

Once a fortnight there is a game and the air seems to have an electricity to it but, off season or during a quiet patch, you will find one of the friendliest and most peaceful places in Zone 2.

The facilities are excellent with good restaurants, takeaways and shops.
After a few years of living here I must say that it is the only place in London I feel truely settled - and I'm from London!

Go on, give Highbury a go but do make sure to view the area on a match day just to be sure you don't find it a problem.
