I moved to Bow last year, and like most twenties who work in the city, we like nice bars and restaurants to splash our cash on ...
... I am living in a nice modern development, bargain rent, but there's just no soul around the area. Isn't the Olympics being held in this area in few years? Shouldn't someone build the bars soon?

I have lived in Bow all my life and everything I need is close around me...
I am only a bus ride away from the City and also a bus ride away from Canary Wharf where all the major leading brand shops are....what more can a girl ask for!....Never a dull moment in Bow!!!

Bow is really handy whether you work in the West End, Westminster (as I do), the City or Docklands...
With fab new restaurants, organic/gastro pubs and designer shops within walking distance, Canary Wharf's Waitrose and outdoor concerts close by, it's great for grown ups.
Victoria Park, the canals (where you can walk or cycle to the Thames or over to West London) and the ecology parks in Mile End are fab for kids. And the street markets and genuinely friendly people are the icing on the cake.
I now wouldn't live anywhere else!

Definitely worth a look...
It's got lovely green spaces and great transport with some nice pubs and restaurants.

I live in Bow and presently have a one bedroom flat for sale in a period converted 'East End Pub'...
...but for reasons beyond my knowledge - no one seemsto have much interest in it! I have lived in or around the area for 5 years and work in Canary Wharf.
I think the area is great, it's vibrant and has lots of character, it may not be on the Thames or have the false impression of some areas, but it is an excellant affordable place to live with very easy travel links not just to the West End and the Isle of Dogs but also to the north and south by car.
You don't get all the traffic congestion commonly associated with central London and the west - you can be on the M25 in approx 20 minutes or on the M1 in no time at all - I think a lot of people write off the area without actually spending very much if not any time there - I never have to go shopping to the west end any more as I have everything I need on my front doorstep with the new shops at Canary Wharf.

I have lived in the East End of London all my life...
...and currently in E3 and it feels more fashionable than ever. E3 has lots going on whilst being surrounded by many tranquil green spots, Victoria Park looking superb and surrounded by trendy bars and restuarants, plus the usual shops and cafes if you fancy a fry-up.
It has excellent links into the City/West End and the properties consist of stylish apartments and period houses/flats. The Roman Road market has a real buzz on Saturday mornings with lots of trendy stalls. There's never been a better time to live here.

Bow is up and coming with close range of the City and West End.
If you enjoy the Old St/Hoxton vibe then Bow is the place for you. You have to venture from those old ways of Bow, and adventure. Bow Wharf is particularly nice and includes Jongleurs comedy club, Bar Risa,Fat Cats Cafe, Fitness First gym and many other shops.
Victoria Park is a landmark and at the other side of the park (classed as E9) there is Victoria Park Village, with small boutiques and trendy bars it is the place to be. My comment is go to the Alex brb on the Victoria Park Rd not only is it a friendly and relaxed environment but also has a deliciously range of pizzas all made on a hot open fire before your eyes. Fabulous!

If, like me, you believe the West End is far too overpriced for what it is...
...you will find the same qualities and plans arising in E3. With it's very close proximity to the City and and the Docklands, the money going into developing this area is making it a much more desirable place to live. More bars, restaurants and shops are appearing all the time. I feel excited about the future of E3.

Although E3 is still the real East End, you do feel when...
...walking through e.g. Tregedar Square that you are in a part which missed the abject poverty and squalor that dominated 18th/19th Century Whitechapel and Bethnal Green. There are some very cool pubs and cafes dotted around and the park is beautiful but unfortunately despite the police that ride their horses through it crime is still high. Police cars wail up and down the streets - however that can be said of most places in London. But for closeness to the city and green spaces it is a great place to live.

Living here is fine, it's accessible and I never feel unsafe...
However it would be much better if there were any nice bars and restaurants to go out at night. I'm only in my twenties and have to travel if I want to go out for a drink, can't someone with some money come and spice up one of the old mens' pubs?
