Fabulous area, plenty going on all year round, something for everyone…

…The Village in particular has lots of atmosphere, a really interesting and eclectic mix of amenities and people and a friendly safe feeling. You can literally see the area improving on a weekly basis as new ventures seem to be opening all the time.

This is probably the best time to make a sound investment for the future in this area, because it's still on the way up and like some other areas, isn't yet overblown!

Jesus Green is a secret gem, just a moment from the city ...

... I'd been going to Columbia Road for years but never explored the Victorian terraced cottages behind. As soon I did my husband and I were hooked.

It took us a while to buy one, as they rarely come on the market. But we moved in last year. We already know all of our neighbours - it's the sort of community you don't get much in London.

Perhaps one of the biggest draws is actually the excellent primary education in the area.

Anyway, worth exploring - it's something you could easily miss.

Whilst searching for a reasonably priced property a few years ago, I came across Bethnal Green...

Like many, perhaps, I had pre-conceived ideas about the area but decided to give it a try following the interviewing of locals about the area. I have lived here ever since and must admit not even attempting to look back since.

The area has completely surprised me - it contains all the qualities I was looking for. It is a metropolitan and cosmopolitan haven where many cultures thrive side-by-side bringing with it a vibrant mix of fantastic foods, shops and atmosphere.

It boasts beautiful and interesting markets, has an abundance of character and has become a haven and home for artists, writers, and poets who have contributed to the charm and fantastic individuality of Bethnal Green - a quality that I have failed to discover anywhere else in London.

It is also wonderfully green and boasts beautiful Victoria Park where one can stroll or cycle along the canal; appreciate the rose garden and the wonderfully serene bird fountain or lunch in one of the eateries close by.

It amazes me that properties are still as affordable as they are considering that it is a stone's throw away from the city's financial district - although, this seems to be changing rapidly as more people discover the charm of Bethnal Green and thus re-evaluate their pre-conceived notions of the area.

It is definitely more up than coming and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates this truly individual and charming place.

Columbia Road has to be one of the hippest enclaves in London...

I've been living there for the last couple of years and love it. The Royal Oak on Columbia Road is a fantastic local pub with an refurbished art deco interior. The Columbia Road market is the obvious draw but increasingly the area has lots to offer during the week as well.

If you fancy living somewhere vibrant and interesting, it's well worth checking the area out on a Sunday morning to get a feel.

I moved to Bethnal Green over 9 months ago and I have absolutely fallen in love with the area...

...so much so, that I would not want to live anywhere else in London!

The area is cosmopolitan, arty, friendly, trendy etc and extremely green. Beautiful Victoria Park is a stone's throw away and is definitley one of the nicest parks I have seen in London.

It has a real family feel while the area is also popular with students etc. I could not recommend a nicer area.

Globe Town is definitely an up and coming area and a very worthwhile 10 year investment...

There are pretty Georgian and Victorian houses next to new build loft style appartments and refurbished, spacious ex-council houses and maisonettes, all good value. Good pubs and excellent restaurants on Globe, Roman and Mile End Roads and a short stroll east to Mile End and Victoria Parks or a short bus ride west down the Bethnal Green road to Brick Lane and Shoreditch.

Excellent transport (and future transport prospects) west to Liverpool Street on the Central Line and east to Stratford International (with Eurostar coming), Stepney Green to Whitechapel on the District or Hammersmith Lines (with Crossrail and East London line extension coming) and to Canary Wharf on the DLR and to City Airport.

Mixed local, professional, artistic and student population with a very friendly community feel and possibly the last place in London you can still get your milk delivered!

I have lived in Bethnal Green for about 9 nine years and I find most people friendly and helpful...

I can't believe that it is situated in central London as some parts are so green. Victoria Park is stunning and the canal sides have been well developed. The pubs and restaurants remain unpricey, full of history and charm and are very friendly.

I am beginning to get attached to the area and am certainly loyal! There's so much of historical interest here too.

The main reason I moved to Bethnal Green was so that I could walk to work...

It is very friendly compared to other areas in London - yes, even though it is not really a Cockney East End place any more.

What I really like though is the canals and rivers round here. If you live in Bethnal Green, you can hit the canals (on a bike) in about 10 minutes, and then you are in a different world.

The waterways of East London take you into a different world, beyond the A roads and the motorways, into a world of wildlife, coots, frogs, storks etc., below the trunk roads to Essex. You can cycle these waterways for miles and miles - way outside London...it's such an easy way to bypass the city smoke.

Also, the Chinese takeaway "Ruby House" on Bethnal Green Road do the best Singapore noodles in London.

This is a real cosmopolitan area with something for everyone...

...you will never be bored. Victoria Park is only round the corner where there are organised events throughout the year, ranging from screenings of live opera to festivals and pop concerts. There are so many bars, pubs and restaurants in the area, I highly recommend the Florist Bar on the Globe Road, a cosy bar with a Spanish theme. E2 is a good area for public transport and only 3 minutes on the tube to Liverpool Street station.

I am loving it, loads of great wee (cheap) pubs and restaurants...

Check out the Dove in Broadway Market, the Globe on Columbia Road, Atomic on Hackney Road. Hackney Road is also great for buying furniture and housey stuff.

I live off Hackney Road - great area for proximity to...

...Good transport links via tube and bus to 'up west',
Columbia Road flower market,
good bars - Shoreditch & Hoxton,
Brick Lane (no explanation required),
lots green spaces such as Victoria Park,
Broadway Market, and that' s just off the top of my head...

Organic child-friendly pub/restaurant The Crown, overlooking Victoria Park...

...the Ecology park and arts park, real shops, good transport, The Buddhist Village, (centre, organic health food shop, Evolution and bookshop, cafes, restaurants) - great!

I grew up in Camden 30 years ago...

...and it has the same feel, a similar energy and waywardness that the former has now entirely prostituted. Watch this space.. but Shoreditch has a few years yet. The "gangsta chic" is for mugs and people who think that Guy Richie makes good films..I'd tell you the best pub but I used to drink in the "Good Mixer" before it got mentioned in the NME......

Word on the Street: E2
The Roman Road is cosmopolitan...

Buddhist Centre, excellent vegetarian restuarant, health food shop, yoga centre, complementary therapy clinic.

£25 million invested in the Mile End park and canal boats promised for the Victoria Park boating lake

Highest number of artists in Europe - it's a happening place!
