"Eastender" is not a bad word anymore...
…The flats are modern, spacious and well furnished. Have lived here for two years and absolutely love it.

Just moved to the area of Poplar a month ago in one of the Grade II listed buildings of Erno Goldfinger...
I've been surprised to discover such a variety of local producers at Crisp Street Market and proud that I will be able to support them from now.
I am very satisfied with the excellent links to the city centre with plenty of transportation choices - DLR, Tube, Buses. Just half a mile away and we are amongst wonderful bars and restaurants at West India Quay.
Overall, this area seem to be of a great potential - surrounded by Canary Wharf which offers plenty of work and commercial opportunity. I would unreluctantly recommend the area to all first-time buyers as Poplar seems to offer great value for money for the time being!

Relocated to work in Canary Wharf two years ago ...
... So convenient to get anywhere in London via Tube, DLR and buses, even most places in Europe given City Airport is just 10 minute away by DLR.
After work/study, it's relaxing and safe either to jog or walk or meet with friends at plenty of pubs here. New buildings are erected for hospital, schools and offices; it's booming, it's exciting and it's proud to be part of the neighbourhood! I am glad I bought a property here.

It is a beautiful area just two stops on the DLR for Canary Wharf. Connections to the A12, A13, and Blackwall Tunnel.

Everyday there seems to be a new development, shop or restaurant opening on the island ...
... The diversity of the area is something that has kept me here for much longer than I anticipated. With river walks great transport, shops, restaurants and east end boozers on your doorstep, I feel this is the most dynamic area of London.

Friars Mead, it's so tranquil, we love living here!
We have a two bed house and the area is really lovely, a secluded haven hardly anyone knows it's here. Tucked away in the heart of the island but still has all the local attractions a short stroll away, Canary Wharf, Greenwich, all on the doorstep, best of both worlds!

I love it...
Work in Canary Wharf, party in Shoreditch and Cable Street or by the river in Limehouse. Shop in Columbia Road, walk everywhere, run by the canals!
It looks a bit grim at first but it is like the Meatpacking district in NYC... fab! Hot tip - area North of Chrisp street - views of Canary Wharf, loads of transport possibilities, lots of warehouses, churches and grimy ex-council, but really going to be the place to be in 3 years time. Langdon Park DLR will help.
Place to avoid: Sorry - don't like the Isle of Dogs.

Limehouse saw a frantic period of building in the early '00s...
Now the area around Narrow Street and Limehouse Basin is as sought after as Wapping (and slightly more affordable!).
Canary Wharf shops, bars, pubs and cinema are a 10 min walk and there are some great old pubs, such as The Grapes, by the river. Expect to spend between 250-400k for a 2-bedder, better deals closer to the DLR station where you can still get a house on Stepney borders for under 400k. Venture into Southern Isle of Dogs for more bargains but poorer transport links.
We have lived here for three years, and it's great to be 10 mins from work in the City AND Canary Wharf!

I have lived here about four years, having rented in the past and just bought a flat in the spring...
Whoever says that it is soulless and difficult to get to obviously hasn't been, there are loads of buses, DLR and the Jubilee line and hundreds of shops/bars/restaurants which now open all weekend. Then there's Greenwich if you fancy some older architecture.
Its clean, quiet, uncongested and friendly so I am perfectly content there!

A great life we have here...
Great restaurants: Conran, Royal China, Carluccios, Smolensky's, Ubon to name a few. Hundreds of shops such as: Waitrose, M&S, Space NK, Hobbs, Whistles etc.
There are properties to satisfy the most discerning and still enough time to make a profit from rising prices. Check out the riverside glass walled SeaCon development currently being built. It will be amazing, on a clear day you'll be able to see many of the landmarks in London.
Don't think that you can just drive around the outside loop of the island to see it all. Drive to West India Quay and catch a film, visit the museum, chose a wine bar and then go and see a concert in Cabot Hall.
I'll never move, I like it too much and many friends have also moved here having seen it all.

Isle of Dogs is a great place; I've spent a great 7 years here...
Surrounded by water, only 2 roads on & off the Island, you're guaranteed a quiet oasis in the heart of London. 25 minutes on the tube to the City, or only 20 on your bike. A stone's throw from Greenwich, 10 minutes from two shopping centres, and all this in the centre of one of Europe's most thriving business areas.

Worked here for 5 years, lived for 4...
Started out renting and as the Canary Wharf area improved decided to buy. Now there's solid transport to get you to the West End in 15 minutes and enough riverside pubs, bars and restaurants for Monday-Friday. With the open waterside spaces and high quality property this place is worth a good look. Plus of course I have 2 fabulous Narrow Street apartments available for rental!

E14 is a great place to live...
...it's really being developed..however - it's not the place to live if you want to walk to pubs and supermarkets. At least not where I live.
Having said that, it's pretty quiet and rather upscale...give it about 2 years and it'll be perfect!

I absolutely adore it!..
I have a flat a few steps from the river, with views of Greenwich and the Dome from the riverbank. There is no crime, it is extremely friendly. It is a joy, after a hard day, to come home to a palce where there is no sound, except the crashing of waves and seagulls flying by.......
I will never sell up, unless I need somewhere a lot bigger as my family expands! No-one could regret moving here - I recommend it highly.

Just wanted to remind you that Limehouse used to be the old Chinatown...
...and one of the original Chinese restuarants still existing on Commercial Road.
Also that those that venture into York Square (now a conservation area) will find the Queens Head (which contains a bust of Queen Victoria) where you will find some very interesting articles about how Eastenders was modelled on York Square, the Queens Head and the railway arches which are found on Yorkshire Road.
