Earls Court is lively and fun...
The squares are beautiful and attracting a fine quality of people. Many bankers and city workers are moving into the area and prices are reflecting this. A Sainsbury local and M&S foodhall have heralded the arrival of gentrification. The local residents associations are very active and the Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea is a local councillor - he refers to EC as the middle of the borough and it guarantees it more attention. Local resident groups are canvassing the council to return the many hotels to permanent accomodation

I bought a one bedroom flat on Lansdowne Way last year with a 70 ft garden backing onto a park...
...and have seen the area boom rapidly since! new tapas bars are opening next to south bank uni and council properties have been tarted up, many now privately owned. This area is surely the last oasis of central/ south london where flats are still affordable.
The growth of Clapham and Brixton in popularity has lead to professional young couples moving into stockwell to take advantages of cheaper housing whilst still having quick access to the bars and clubs.
Transport links could not be better - V & N line, Wandworth overland, with Clapham junction a 5 min bus ride. Its also not too far south of the river for taxi's to come from the west end ( £10) and with only 5 tube stops into bank I can do bed - desk at the office in 40 mins.v. good investment potential!!

I have been living in Earls Court since 1987...
Absolutely love the place. Once you step outside the main drag which is Earls Court Road, one can find the most delightful enclaves. Lovely community atmosphere around Kenway Road which also possesses a great selection of tiny convenience stores, two of which are Philippine.
On the Old Brompton Road (Earls Court end) there are a great selection of restaurants to choose from, not forgetting to mention the great cafe, The Troubadour.
The big downside are the pubs which are quite transient rather than possessing character. However the best thing about Earls Court is that it hasn't been sanitised like South Kensington - it definitely has grit and soul!

Wonderfully convenient for everything...
...late night shops on Earls Court Road, resturants in Kenway Village, Sainsburys open 24 hours and High St Ken only a 10 minute walk away.
Tubes are good and there are loads of buses. West Brompton station has trains to Clapham Junction.
Traffic is a problem - Cromwell Road becomes gridlocked at rush hour. However, it's not far to the M4 for getting out of London. Or back into London, if you can find somewhere to park that is.
There are somewhat more parking permits issued than spaces available so be prepared to crawl around looking for a while. That said, you hardly need a car with such good transport links!
