EC1 is the best! I recently discovered the Regent's Park Canal ...

... which is a short cycle up the road and as much lovely tranquil green space as you could wish for! The best is that I can now cycle to Canary Wharf every morning and still beat getting on the tube and much cheaper than the Thames Clipper from Bankside. And all this from EC1!

Have lived here for past 5 years and absolutely love it ...

There is so much history and interesting architecture, as well as great bars and restaurants. What else could you want? It beats living in contrived areas such as Kensington etc...

We moved here in October and we love it...

There are fantastic bars and restaurants, thriving and busy in the week but we have it all to ourselves at the weekend.

If you can, get up one morning about 4.30/5 and see the meat market in action -it's like stumbling across a film set!

Thoroughly recommend living here as you're really close to everything but without some of the dodgier downsides of Islington.

Clerkenwell - EC1. I'm about to exhange on a property in this new happening area...

I was actually surprised to arrive in Farringdon and see so many city workers hanging out in the now many trendy bars and restaurants. Most residential property has been carved out of industrial buildings which give the apartments a loft feel.

The area in general is great for either the financial distict 'The City' or the West End. There are excellent transport links from Farringdon St, as well as Kings Cross being one short tube stop away.

The area is buzzing with 30-something professionals with money who want to work and play hard!

I love living here!...

After two years trying to find (within my budget!) a two bed maisonette with garden in N1, by chance my search extended into EC1. Amazingly I found exactly what I was looking for in Finsbury and must now sing the praises of the area.

The architecture is wonderful, with plenty of beautiful old properties, and transport is great with Angel, Farringdon and Kings Cross all within reach (though I now walk to work near St Paul's in 20 minutes).

Moreover, Finsbury is in zone 1 (so low transport costs if you work centrally), is in the congestion zone and near the new Eurostar yet, if you know where to look, you can find peace and quiet and fascinating reminders of London's long history.

On top of all of that, it's so much cooler to head to the bars and restaurants of Exmouth Market than to follow the herds to Upper Street! I'm yet to discover any downsides to the area.

I too love living here....

EC1 is central, forget the tube, you can walk to work, to town, to railway stations if you want to get away for the weekend. Quiet too, especially at weekends.

I love living in EC1...

... lots of interesting loft type apartments, near the City, great new buildings, quite a smart area to live in, and improving all the time.

The weekend eating out places are a bit limited but what the heck, Soho is only 10 minutes away by taxi; I think it's going to be the new hub of London.

We stayed in a friend's flat for a week, just 1 block N of the Farringdon tube stop...

We found an excellent place to eat every night within walking distance, very
pleasant pubs, and good amenities. We are Yank tourists, of course, but we have lots of friends in London & environs, visit often.

We would, if we could afford to, buy a flat in this neighbourhood.
