About the area
The successful have long been drawn to Clerkenwell - back in the 17th Century it was a fashionable place to live for the affluent, and a place to find refined leisure pursuits at premises from tea gardens to spas and theatres. Unlike many parts of the capital that have lost their character and identity, Clerkenwell Green and St James' church that were at the heart of the old village still lend a focal core as well as an unexpected air of a rural village to this most vibrant of urban villages.
In more recent years the appeal of Clerkenwell soared as it became a magnet for those seeking a location a walk from the City as well as becoming a dynamic hub of offices and workplaces, ateliers and workplaces in its own right.
