SAP is a Government approved method for calculating energy efficiency rating of a new home.
EcoHomes ratings improve on building regulation standards for energy, water efficiency and the overall environmental impact of the method of construction of a building and the materials and products used.
What is the SAP Energy rating system?
The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the Governments approved procedure for calculating the energy rating of a new home. The SAP energy rating gives you a comparable measure of your homes energy efficiency, using a scale of 1 to 120 the higher the number the more efficient your home is.
Reducing your energy bills and looking after the environment.
The SAP rating allows you to make an informed judgement on comparing the energy efficiency of new homes. Comparison indicates which homes are cheaper to run in terms of energy consumption and more environmentally friendly in terms of energy emissions. The SAP energy rating is based on costs for space and water heating and takes into account: thermal insulation; heating system control; ventilation; solar gain; and type of fuel used.
Commitment
Crest Nicholson Plc has a Sustainable Development policy that commits to constructing well built sustainable homes and to raising the awareness of our consumers to the benefits of sustainable homes. We monitor our SAP rating performance and publicly report this data
What are EcoHomes?
The Environmental Rating for Homes
EcoHomes is an independently verified rating based on authoritative research by the Building Research Establishment and sponsored by the NHBC. The ratings are expressed as improvements in design above standard building regulations. The rating system ranges from Pass, minor design improvements, through Good and Very Good to Excellent, exemplary environmental performance.
If you live in a Very Good rated EcoHome Crest Nicholson has addressed, to varying degrees, the environmental concerns for your particular area and included superior environmental design features that result in for example:
reduced energy and water use costs
reduction in energy derived carbon dioxide emissions*
reduction in domestic water use*
reduction in domestic waste sent to landfill*
reduced house maintenance costs
healthy, comfortable and flexible internal environment
access to local amenities and less dependence on the car
wildlife and habitat conservation and improvement
meeting or improving standards of sound insulation and lighting
The EcoHome rating certificate usually applies to all house types in a given development phase. Crest Nicholson has publicly committed to achieving a minimum Good Ecohomes rating and aspires to 'Very Good and 'Excellent' ratings.
